Testing and certification group, TRaC Global, has been selected to develop and provide the official ZigBee 3.0 test tool to the ZigBee Alliance. The essential, easy to use tool will enable manufacturers of ZigBee products to perform testing of their designs at every stage of the development process and allow them to fully prepare for testing required by the ZigBee Certified programme.

The tool will be able to confirm a product’s compliance against all the requirements of the new ZigBee 3.0 certification regime, which is expected to be ratified later this year. ZigBee product designers and manufacturers will be able to realise consistency of performance; with the tool providing immediate feedback, interim verdicts and a comprehensible result summary to enable users to clearly identify what has passed and what has failed. The tool will allow product developers to lower their development costs and get to market faster.

TRaC Global’s chief executive, Mark Heaven commented: “The ZigBee test tool TRaC is developing for the Alliance will provide product developers with the highest confidence that all test criteria have been met prior to official certification testing. Allowing manufacturers to test their designs at all stages of development will enable them to identify any potential problems early in the design process. This will help to significantly increase the likelihood of achieving certification at the first attempt, eliminating costly product redesigns along the way.

“TRaC Global has been, and continues to be, an active participant within the ZigBee Alliance and is delighted to have our technical expertise and experience in ZigBee testing recognised in our selection for the delivery of this tool by the Board of the ZigBee Alliance.”

“The ZigBee 3.0 test tool is part of our fundamental commitment to provide seamless interoperability to consumers and businesses around the world”, said Victor Berrios, director of ZigBee Certified for the ZigBee Alliance. “We are working with TRaC, an authorized test service provider of the Alliance, to leverage their extensive experience in testing ZigBee products. The test tool will help our members deliver ZigBee 3.0 products to the market and continue ZigBee’s role as the open, global wireless standard for the Internet of Things.”

The test tool will be available to members of the ZigBee Alliance with the opening of the ZigBee 3.0 Certification Programme.
