New Evaluation Board for Standard Oscillators

How many times have you thought that you wished you had a quick and simple way of testing an oscillator? Now there is no need to worry about designing and building your own test circuit as you can use the new IOSC-EV Board available from IQD and our distributors. This can be used to test standard surface mount clock oscillators, VCXOs or TCXO/VCTCXOs.

The IOSC-EV Board comes with six smaller boards that can be snapped from the side of the main board and onto which different size 4 pad packaged oscillators can be soldered. The smaller board can then be soldered to the main PCB. The six different package sizes are 1.6 x 1.2mm, 2.0 x 1.6mm, 2.5 x 2.0mm, 3.2 x 2.5mm, 5.0 x 3.2mm & 7.0 x 5.0mm.

New range of ultra-low voltage clock oscillators from IQD

IQD has launched a new range of market leading ultra-low voltage CMOS based clock oscillators available at 0.9V, 1.2V and 1.5V. These oscillators are ideal for use in designs where improved battery life is critical including body cameras for security services, digital cameras, personal navigation devices (PND), portable audio players, portable test equipment, USB Interface, WLAN and wearable applications. Designated as the IQXO-691 series, the new oscillators are available with a frequency stability of either ±20ppm over an operating temperature range of -20 to 70 degrees C or ±25ppm over -40 to 85 degrees C.

Housed in hermetically sealed ceramic packages, four sizes are available: 2.5 x 2.0mm, 3.2 x 2.5mm, 5.0 x 3.2mm and 7.0 x 5.0mm. Frequencies can be specified in the range 10MHz to 50MHz and offer a start-up time of 10ms and a rise and fall time of 7ns. All variants include a tri-state function on pin 1 as standard and packaging options are either ‘Tape and Reel’ or ‘Cut Tape’.

IQD’s New Ultra-Low Voltage, Tight Stability TCXO

IQD’s new IQXT-225 series Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (TCXO) only requires an ultra-low 1.2V supply whilst at the same time delivering excellent frequency stability of ±0.5ppm over an operating temperature range of -30 to 85 degrees C.

Packaged in an ultra-miniature 2.0 x 1.6 x 0.7mm hermetically sealed ceramic package, this new model is the ideal choice for use in designs where the life span of the battery is critical, typically Internet of Things (IoT), personal navigation devices (PND), portable test equipment, wearables and wireless communications.

Six commonly used frequencies are available including 16.368MHz,16.369MHz, 19.2MHz, 26.0MHz, 33.6MHZ and 38.4MHz. The IQXT-225 has a Clipped Sinewave output and 10kO//10pF load with a current draw of

1.7mA and a enable/disable function on pin 1 for low power operation; when in disable mode the current draw is only 3.0µA. The new TCXO delivers a phase noise performance of -135dBc/Hz at 1kHz offset and offers a start-up time of 2ms.

Ultra-stable VCTCXO satisfies key performance criteria for LTE-A, WCDMA & small cell network synchronisation

The latest communications networks demand specific performance criteria from their core timing and synchronisation devices, usually a Voltage Controlled Temperature Compensated Crystal Oscillator (VCTCXO). IQD’s new ‘best-in-class’ low jitter, tight stability IQXT-316 series VCTCXO is designed to satisfy these key standards through optimisation of the critical performance areas.

For example, the new model utilises proprietary ASIC technology to meet the tight short and medium term stability requirements (±50ppb to ±250ppb depending on the operating temperature range) required for packet network synchronisation for small cells. This combined with its outstanding slope performance as low as ±20ppb/degrees and low power consumption makes the IQXT-316 the ideal choice for small cell synchronisation requirements.
