Craft Data, the UK & European representative for industrial touch & display specialist GTT Co. Ltd are pleased to introduce their latest range of hygienic, contactless touch frames & industrial contactless touch monitors designed for a host of HMI applications. The “UNTACT” touch technology is based on the tried and tested infrared touch technology, however the difference between conventional IR touch and Untact is the positioning of the infrared emitters and detectors. In conventional IR touch they are positioned as close to the display’s surface as possible, typically 5mm, however Untact moves these emitters and detectors up to 35mm away from the display’s surface, making the detection of a stylus (finger, gloved finger, artificial finger) up to 35mm away from the touch target being shown on the display screen, hence “Contactless”.

Users of the contactless Untact touch system do not have to touch, download or scan anything, they just simply point!  We believe that Untact offers the best protection for all users from the first of the day to the last in a host of multi-user HMI applications including public information and payment kiosks, self-service check-in and check-outs to name just a few. It’s contactless (touchless) design gives users peace of mind and stops the spread of harmful and potentially deadly bacteria via cross contamination.

Helping the user to understand their touch has been registered without the act of physically touching the display screen are two built in haptics, “light” and “sound” and one external haptic, “visual”, which requires additional software (supplied) loaded onto your applications hard drive. These three-touch haptics help in the following ways.

Visual, an animated semi-transparent target is superimposed over the users intended touch target displayed on the TFT display panel and can be dragged across the display via your finger or other touch stylus as you would a mouse pointer.

Light, LED lighting mounted around the edge of the active display area switches on and illuminates the display area at the detection of a stylus then switches off when the stylus is removed.

Sound, a buzzer/beeper sounds to indicate the detection of a stylus.

Another feature unique to UNTACT is its polygonal touch function which detects and dismisses another hand or sleeve should these accidentally stray into the touch area alongside the intended stylus, plus a 6-point Multi-Touch function gives users the same pinch and pull functionality they associate with their own smartphones.

There are currently five sizes within the “UNTACT” touch frame and monitor ranges, 21.5”, 27.0”, 32.0”, 43.0” and 55.0”, the monitors all have a 1920×1080 full HD resolution and are in the wide screen 16:9 format. IPS or MVA technology TFT LCD panels are used, ensuring that all sizes have ultra-wide viewing angles of 178° on both the horizontal and vertical axis allowing for the monitors to be mounted in both landscape and portrait orientations without the loss of image quality and colour. The touch has a built-in USB 2.0 interface and is fully plug and play compatible, a stylus size of >7mm is recommended which makes it ideal for a human finger. Windows XP/7/8/10 (32/64 Bit) operating systems are supported plus Android and Linux OS are coming soon.

We are also able to offer a customisation service for both the touch frame and complete monitor ranges, we can produce sizes up to 100” diagonal for both indoor and high brightness outdoor applications. Please contact us for further information.
