Transonics has recently completed a 50 per cent expansion at its headquarters in Hemel Hempstead to accommodate new personnel that are enabling the company to increase its commitment to customer service.

Daniel French, managing director at Transonics, explains: “There are customers that typically spend £50k-£2M per year. These people want to be looked after personally; they want to be able to talk with someone who knows them. The big multinationals and catalogue houses are often quite faceless and it’s hard to get past the ‘system’. We recognise that it’s not just about profitability – it’s about serviceability. The new expansion means that we can ensure that we retain our human face, backed up with efficient processes.”

Having seen significant growth in 2018 in common with the rest of the market, Transonics bucked the negative industry trend in 2019 and experienced solid growth. French puts this down to focusing on areas where the company offers real expertise – value-added services like MCU programming, PCB supply including design support and fast turn-around, Far East sourcing and cable assembly – backed up by a philosophy that prioritises ease of transaction for the customer. New franchises like JJ Micro and Hongfa have also contributed to the company’s success, and huge, available stocks complete the package.

“2020 will see us unveil a new eCommerce site, plus other programs which are all designed to be beneficial on a day-to-day basis for our customers”, concludes French.
