To help improve its employee’s performance and customer knowledge, Exception EMS has made major upgrades to its training facility and now operates a Training Academy for use by both.  The company advises this is in support of contract electronics manufacturers and their need to adapt quickly to a continually evolving market, with not only the skills of their personnel, but the investment in manufacturing equipment. This supports the increasing demand for quick turnaround of very complex PCBAs.

The company advises it is offering its employees and customers ‘state of the art’ facilities for learning.  This includes a newly improved and refurbished theory room as well as the opening of an upgraded practical training room.

Mark Davies, Operations Director at eXception EMS said: “With technological innovation gathering pace, it’s essential that our employees retain the very best skills within our sector. We need to ensure that they are getting access to the very best we can offer, and increasingly we are realising the need to surpass the average industry standard.  With this in mind, we’ve created a Training Academy that offers our employees an opportunity to not only broaden their skillset, but offers them a career in the industry for the long term, crucial for any successful electronics manufacturing business in the UK today.”

The Training Academy now offers its employees:

•Apprenticeship training in engineering and manufacturing

•NVQ training in Performing Manufacturing Operations and Performing Engineering Operations

•Specialist in-house soldering training and specialist re-work/repair training to include BGA rework training and Pad and Track repair

•An In-house inspection and quality inspection course

•IPC training programmes on ESD (electro-static discharge) Control for Electronic Asssembly, PCB and Component Handling to ensure all principles of Electro Static Management are managed sufficiently, Component Identification and General Safety.

•NVQ in Team Leading

•NVQ in Business Administration

•NVQ in Warehouse/Storage

In addition eXception EMS is working with Acua Solutions (part of Coventry university) and will offer managers/team leaders:

•Leadership and management training leading to a Certificate in Professional Development

•Customer service training

•Effective Team Working

The company will also offer IPC training courses externally to its customers – a further announcement in the coming months will cover more detail on its new and update Professional Services offering.

Davies concluded, Today it is critical for not only staff retention and career longevity, but for the success of the electronics manufacturer today – to enlighten personnel with the very best training it can offer.  We need to make sure our staff has access to the very latest methodologies, the skills they need to operate increasingly complex machinery and the management skills needed to run a smooth operation.  Our recent re-investment in this area will see us reaping rewards in the years to come.”
