Florian Haas, Director Marketing TRACO POWER GROUP explores the capabilities of a new power solution.

The newly developed TSR-E, TEA, TBA and TEC series are available from 1 to 3 watts covering 12 new product families. They all focus on a simple and effective design approach which is unique to those Traco Power Products. By innovative engineering we have come up with an electrical design which minimises component and labour costs. Key focus of those designs was to maximise the amount of automatisation of the manufacturing process. We achieved this by:

  • Using Transformers which are wound by machine
  • Standard pinning layouts where the pins can be soldered by a robot
  • Minimising the number of components and only use SMD components for DC-DC converter which can be soldered by robot
  • Building automated testing facilities for fully automated Burn-In Testings

With this innovative product design, we optimised the automation of the manufacturing process to the maximum. This enabled us to launch cost and quality optimised, low power dc- dc converters which are ideal for your high volume IoT projects.

Key specifications of the TSR-E, TEA, TBA, TEC DC-DC converters are:

Features

• Highly cost-efficient design
• Standard I/O isolation of 1500VDC with optional 4000VDC
• -40°C to +86°C operating temperature range without derating
• Available input ranges +/-10%, 2:1 and 4:1
• Industry-standard SIP-4, SIP-7 and SIP-8 packages
• 3-year warranty

Application

• Space and cost critical applications
• High volume projects where simple and reliable products are needed

Florian Haas, Director of Global Marketing and Product Management states more precisely: “We have listened to the market and are pleased to launch the campaign of our new low-cost DC-DC converters. With the TSR 1E (non-isolated, regulated), TEA/TBA (isolated, unregulated) and TEC 2/3 (isolated, regulated) series models, we give designers a choice of high quality, cost-optimised DC-DC converters from 1-3 watts. Unlike our competitors, we focus in the campaign not only the price reduction, but also HOW we can achieve these low manufacturing costs and what benefits these products bring to the customer.“
