Intelligent, connected battery system makes light work of tracking and charging large professional tool fleets
RS Components (RS) is among the world’s first suppliers of the revolutionary new DEWALT XR Tool CONNECT connected battery system for cordless power tools, which enables owners or rental companies to track equipment and monitor battery health using a smartphone or tablet.
XR Tool CONNECT intelligent battery packs can be fitted to each of the DEWALT tools in the owner’s fleet. The mobile app communicates with all batteries within a 30-metre range using Bluetooth technology, and enables the user to verify quickly that tools have been returned after each shift or at the end of the day. In addition, battery health checking helps keep batteries charged and ready for use.
The new battery system is also ideal for tool-hire companies. The app has check-in and check-out features that help keep on top of rentals, and the battery can be set to stop providing power at any user-defined time to prevent unauthorised use. Users can also create customised alerts.
The lithium-ion technology of the 18V XR Tool CONNECT batteries gives high energy density, and the choice of 2.0Ah or 5.0Ah capacities – both now in stock at RS in the UK and EMEA – allows customers to optimise battery size and weight, and recharge interval to suit their requirements.
