Retex UK, the supplier of one of a range of electronic and electrical enclosures on the UK market, has launched a range of ‘Universal Cases’ which are designed to give OEMs and designers absolute freedom during specification. The range is available with different material construction, dimensions and designs to offer solutions for most applications. For added versatility, many products within the range are available with EMI/RFI shielding and a choice of customisation options.

The Universal Cases range is available direct from Retex UK, or from many of the UK’s best known distributors. The range is split into five groups, all of which offer functionality and a range of sizes as well as bespoke customisation opportunities. With a standard operating temperature of 85 degrees C and IP levels up to IP65, many applications can be accommodated within the range.

The Series 70 features a recessed lid and base to accept membrane keypads and overlays. It is constructed from ABS plastic and is available with a neoprene gasket, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications. The enclosure is designed with internal pillars and side slots for PCB mounting and can be wall mounted using either pre-punched holes in the base or separately designed feet. A choice of light grey and black is available, and size dimensions range from 90mm x 55mmx 25mm to 220mm x 145mm x 80mm.

The Series 101 is  designed for a broad range of applications. It’s distinctive bevel edges and rounded sidewall gives it a modern look, while the lid’s mounting screws are hidden by self-adapting rubber plugs. It features a polished finish which allows for easy cleaning of the surface once installed. The enclosures are constructed from ABS plastic and are supplied in light grey as standard. Size dimensions range from 90mm x 50mmx 35mm to 220mm x 140mm x 90mm.

For applications where the internals need to remain visible, for instance when LCDs or counters require visual inspection, the Series 102 is ideal. The enclosure base is constructed from ABS plastic while the lid is transparent polycarbonate, which guarantees robust protection against knocks and scrapes. It’s design is similar to the modern looking Series 101 and also benefits from the polished finish. Size dimensions range from 90mm x 50mmx 35mm to 220mm x 140mm x 90mm.

The Series 103 range also offers users the same modern aesthetics, but has the added advantage of an aluminium lid for extra protection against knocks. The bottom panel of the enclosure is recessed to accept membrane keypads and overlays. There is maximum internal volume and bosses for mounting a PCB in the base. The lid is 1mm aluminium (silver anodised finish) and the rest of the enclosure is ABS plastic. Size dimensions range from 90mm x 50mmx 31mm to 220mm x 140mm x 86.5mm.

Unlike the rest of the Retex UK Universal Cases range, the Minibox+ is constructed entirely of metal. It’s construction makes it ideal for many different applications, from compact testing equipment to heavy-duty installations such as machine controls. Made entirely from 1mm aluminium (natural anodised finish), bespoke entry fitting can be easily made by programmable CNC punching. Two piece construction is used with self-taping screws holding the parts together, except in the case of the smallest model which is snap fit. Size dimensions range from 55mm x 40mmx 25mm to 205mm x 205mm x 105mm.
