New additions have been added by Schroff to the company’s Zonex range of stainless-steel wall-mount enclosures, which are ATEX certified for housing electronic or electrical equipment in Zone 1 and Zone 2 hazardous locations.

The devices are manufactured by Hoffman, which is one of Schroff’s sister companies within the

Pentair Technical Products Group. As a result of this development the company’s range of enclosures has been significantly expanded with 21 new sizes to go alongside the existing line-up of 13 models.

The new enclosures comprise hinge-cover versions in 16 standard sizes from 12 by 12 by 6in. to 36 by 24 by 8in., together with five small screw-cover models ranging in size from 4 by 4 by 3in. to 10 by 10 by 5in.

All the products in this range now carry both European ATEX and international IECEx certification, and the hinge-cover models are also certified to the American AEx standard.

They are fabricated from Type 316 stainless steel for superior corrosion resistance, and feature one-piece continuous gaskets and brass internal and external earthing points.

A variety of hinge-cover versions are supplied as standard with a full-size gasketed gland plate, welded-on wall-mounting brackets and a quarter-turn latch with 3mm double-bit insert for enhanced security. Available accessories include panels, breather drains, stopping plugs and extra gland plates.

In addition a modification service with ATEX certification is available, enabling the enclosures to be customised to meet specific requirements regarding choice of materials (including high-temperature silicone gaskets for operation from -55 to 180degC), mounting brackets, holes and cut-outs, paint finish and terminal-block installation and marking.
