Newly released from Laser Components (UK) Ltd. is the LDP-CW 20-50 OEM, which is a low cost device that is a compact and efficient current supply for output power up to 1kW.
The capability ranges from continuous output current, to analogue modulated waveforms such as sinusoidal, rectangular or triangular.
Intended fields of application are laser soldering and welding as well as generic surface treatment and show lasers.
The current regulation concept of the LDP-CW 20-50, compared to the commonly used linear regulation concept, produces considerably less losses. Hence only one supply voltage is needed for the control logic and the power stage.
The current consumption drawn from the power supply only needs to cover the average laser power and is typically much less than 20A.
The device features a range of benefits including: over-temperature shutdown, enable/disable input, driver status output and protection of the laser diode against reverse currents.
