New Schottky rectifier diodes have been introduced by AVX Corporation that are designed for switching power supply applications.
A specially designed lead-less packaging technology has been integrated in to the devices that is said to eliminate lead frame and wire bond, giving the chip top-bottom symmetry for fewer mounting problems. This also improves heat transfer and current handling capability (compared to SOD devices).
Other design features include a high rated current of 0.1A up to 8A and the devices are available in various different case sizes from 0402 up to 3220.
The company’s new Schottky rectifier diodes are described as mechanically robust and to offer a very low profile, low VF. Whislt being fully RoHS compliant and halogen-free, the devices are ideal for use in switch mode power supplies, high frequency rectification and battery powered devices.
