The newest polymer capacitor technologies from Panasonic benefiting from high reliability and high safety, low ESR, extended life span and wide capacitance ranges, can now be ordered from TTI, a specialist distributor of passive, connector, electromechanical and discrete components.

The OS-CON aluminium solid capacitor incorporates highly-conductive polymer electrolyte material and offers an extended life span combined with low ESR and excellent noise-reduction across a wide temperature range. Its solid conductive polymer electrolyte construction means the device exhibits little change in ESR even at low temperatures. With excellent impedance frequency characteristics and ability to allow large ripple current,

OS-CON is a viable choice for use as a decoupling capacitor or smoothing capacitor. Technical details of the component include a voltage range of 2VDC up to 100VDC, a capacitance range of 3.3µF up to 2700µF, a low ESR down to 5mO, a temperature range of -55degC up to +125degC and an endurance of up to 5000h at 105degC and 2000h at 125degC.

POSCAP is a compact, low profile solid electrolytic chip capacitor with a sintered tantalum anode and highly conductive polymer cathode. Highly reliable and with an extended product life, POSCAP offers low ESR and high frequency performance in addition to high capacitance, high heat resistance and high ripple current capability. Additional benefits include reduced noise and rush current guaranteed for 20A. Technical details of the device include a voltage range of 2VDC up to 35VDC, a capacitance range of 2.7µF up to 1500µF, a low ESR down to 5mO, a temperature range of -55degC up to +125degC and an endurance of up to 2000h at 105degC and 1000h at 125degC.

The ZA series and ZC series conductive polymer hybrid capacitors combine aluminium electrolytic capacitors with conductive polymer capacitors. Panasonic’s newly developed hybrid technology brings together long lifetime, very low ESR (down to 20mOhm) and high ripple current (up to 2500mArms) characteristics of conductive polymer capacitors and the low leakage current of aluminium electrolytic capacitors. The devices benefit from the compact design and high reliability of the conductive polymer capacitor and the safety and high voltage of the aluminum electrolytic capacitors. ZA series capacitors feature a voltage range of 25VDC up to 80VDC (100VDC is currently under development), a capacitance range of 10uF up to 330uF, a temperature range of -55degC up to +105degC and an endurance of up to 10000h at 105degC. ZC series capacitors feature a voltage range of 25VDC up to 63VDC, a capacitance range of 10uF up to 330uF, a temperature range of -55degC up to +125degC and an endurance of up to 4000h at 125degC.

SP series polymer aluminium capacitors offer very stable capacitance characteristics over the complete operating temperature and frequency range, especially compared to ceramic and low ESR tantalum capacitors. Also in terms of safety the Panasonic SP-Cap is a good choice. The SP-Cap does not easily ignite or “smoke” at over-voltage conditions or in the case of a short circuit. If a defect occurs, the polymer will become self-insulating and shuts off the current flow. SP-Caps benefit from a voltage range of 2V up to 25VDC, a capacitance range of 2.2uF up to 560uF, a super low ESR (down to 3mO), and a high ripple current (up to 4Arms).
