Energy-efficient microcontroller (MCU) and wireless MCU solutions have been introduced by Silicon Laboratories Inc. for power-sensitive applications. The new C8051F96x MCU and Si102x and Si103x wireless MCU families enable up to 40 percent less system current draw and up to 65 percent longer battery life than other MCU solutions.

The devices are designed to cater to the power needs of battery-operated embedded systems.

They are ideal for smart metering (water, gas and heat meters), in-home utility monitoring, wireless security, home and building automation and also for portable medical products.

The wireless MCUs combine power-saving features with a sub-GHz transceiver into a single-chip solution ideal for battery operated embedded systems requiring both energy efficiency and good RF performance.
