A new linear voltage regulator has been released by Advanced Power Electronics Corp. that is described as being efficient whilst offering over 2 percent initial voltage accuracy.

The company’s APU1205-3 family has been developed with added features including a very low drop-out voltage and very low ground current so is particularly well suited to handheld battery powered applications.

The device is said to offer good stability enabled by the use of low cost ceramic capacitors, whilst featuring a dropout voltage of 270mV at 300mA or 170mV at 150mA whilst quiescent current at shutdown is 5µA.

It also features TTL-compatible enable/shutdown control input, current limiting and thermal shutdown. The device is available in fixed and adjustable output voltage versions in a small SMT 5 pin SOT-23 package.

This package is halogen-free and compliant with both current RoHS and REACH environmental requirements for hazardous materials.
