Laird, a global technology company, has announced the release of the new ConnexLink Setup Wizard. The Wizard provides a user-friendly and intuitive experience for first time configuration of ConnexLink radios.

The Wizard pairs ConnexLink radios for use in critical serial cable replacement applications including weigh stations, irrigation systems and digital signage (such as scoreboards, road signs and advertising). Critical devices in these environments rely on serial cables to receive and send data. However, serial cables can be difficult to install, expensive and frustrating to replace. The flexibility and economical price of ConnexLink radios allows users to quickly upgrade wired applications to cordless operation in industrial and commercial environments with the use of the new ConnexLink Setup Wizard; it’s as simple as plug, click and connect.

A user, with no prior experience, can purchase ConnexLink radios and, with the assistance of the ConnexLink Setup Wizard, easily cut the cables between serial devices within minutes. The Wizard provides a step-by-step guide for pairing and testing Laird ConnexLink radios.

Field applications engineering manager, Jay White, explained, “A new user can easily and quickly configure and pair ConnexLink radios by only changing one parameter. The Wizard removes the hassle out of first-time setup and testing, setting up both new and experienced users for success.”

ConnexLink implements a proprietary communication protocol to provide secure local data transmissions. Because it uses FHSS technology, the data remains reliable over distances of up to 20 miles (32 km) line-of-sight (900 MHz version). Use of license-free frequency bands ensures that units are ready to use with no further certification requirements. Every unit is backed by a full one-year warranty.
