Mouser Electronics has teamed up with celebrity engineer Grant Imahara and Lance Williams, Vice President at ON Semiconductor, to present an informative insight on the challenges and current technologies for autonomous and semi-autonomous vehicles

Grant and Lance sync up for a quick video interview while on the road in a DeLorean time machine seen in Back to the Future. They explore semi-autonomous driving and enhanced vehicle efficiency, as well as autonomous assisted parking and automobile communication. Lance helps engineers gain a better understanding of how close we really are to achieving public acceptance of this cutting-edge technology. The video interview can be found in the Innovation Hub, part of Mouser’s new Driverless Cars Series and Empowering Innovation Together program.

“We’re definitely seeing a shift in how we interact with our cars, going from more passive systems in current vehicles to more active systems in driverless and connected vehicles,” said Grant Imahara. “Newer safety features like adaptive cruise control, automatic braking, lane departure warning and park assist are just some of the technologies being developed by suppliers like ON Semi that are making these vehicles more reliable than ever.”

The comprehensive Driverless Car Series also includes technical articles, featured products, blogs, and other related content. This exciting program is designed to inspire creative thinking for both professional and aspiring engineers. Sponsored by Platinum Program Partner ON Semiconductor, and Diamond Sponsors Freescale Semiconductor, AVX and Delphi, this Driverless Car Series is the fourth installment and follow-up to the popular Robotics, Space and Home Automation programs, which were launched earlier this year from Mouser Electronics.
