Arrow Electronics has announced that five more European sites of its value recovery business have been certified to the global Responsible Recycling (R2) standard. The certificate relates to the procurement, refurbishment and resale of electronic equipment and covers sites in Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany and UK.

Arrow’s value recovery business is part of an industry-leading global network of processing centres that provide secure and environmentally responsible asset recovery, data sanitisation, testing and screening, remarketing, service parts management, and product returns management services for a wide range of electronic equipment.

Mark Majeske, president, Arrow Value Recovery, commented: “This is another significant step in the recognition of the best practices we have rolled out across our operations. These EMEA sites join Arrow’s existing R2 certifications in the United States, Brazil and the Netherlands where we strive to deliver services based on the highest ethical standards.”

R2 is administered by SERI, a non-profit organisation with a global mission to promote safe and sustainable electronics reuse and recycling worldwide. The standard requires strict accountability for environmental health and safety practices as well as tracking of material. R2 places particular importance on the preservation of natural resources by extending the useful life of equipment, parts and components.
